The American Academy of Health Behavior (AAHB) invites applications for the position of Editor-in-Chief of Health Behavior Research, the official journal of AAHB. We seek an accomplished scholar with a strong record of scientific contributions, editorial leadership, and a vision for advancing the journal's influence within the interdisciplinairy field of health behavior research.
Health Behavior Research is dedicated to the translation of research to advance policy, program planning, and/or practice relevant to behavior change. The journal is entering a new chapter through its publishing partnership with MDPI, providing opportunities to expand its visibility, reach, and impact while maintaining its commitment to scientific excellence and the mission of AAHB.
The Opportunity
The Editor-in-Chief will provide strategic leadership for the journal, shaping its scientific direction, strengthening its reputation and impact, and fostering a rigorous, inclusive, and innovative editorial environment. This is an opportunity to influence the future of a leading journal in health behavior research and to work closely with a dedicated editorial team, AAHB, and MDPI.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and advance the journal's scientific vision and scope.
- Oversee the editorial process and make final decisions on manuscripts.
- Recruit and mentor a distinguished and diverse Editorial Board.
- Champion high standards of scientific rigor, ethics, and transparency.
- Serve as an ambassador for the journal and AAHB within the scientific community.
- Chairing the Editorial Board meeting at the annual AAHB Annual Scientific Meeting and attending the annual scientific meeting to represent the journal.
- Attend quarterly AAHB Board meetings and quarterly AAHB Conference Planning Meetings.
Qualifications
- Established record of scholarship and leadership in health behavior research.
- Editorial experience (e.g., Editor, Associate Editor, Reviewing Editor, or Editorial Board Member) preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of peer review and publication ethics.
- Commitment to a minimum term of two years, with the option for renewal.
Appointment and Support
- Opportunity to publish two papers per year free of charge in any MDPI journal.
- Opportunity to invite up to three distinguished authors per year to submit articles to Health Behavior Research free of charge.
- A dedicated editorial team at MDPI and AAHB to support the journal's development.
- Access to the resources and global network of MDPI.
